1st Reconciliation & 1st Communion Program Overview


For children in grade 2 (or higher)

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As your child begins 2nd grade in the 2024/25 school year, he/she also enters into a very special year in his/her faith journey.

With great joy and anticipation, our Family of Parishes looks forward to working closely with you, the parents, to prepare your child, who has been baptized in the Roman Catholic faith, for his/her First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. As your child’s first and foremost teacher of the faith, your help and support are crucial!

Our 2024/25 formation program will consist of two steps:

1. Formation Sessions for Parents
2. Formation Sessions for Children

Registration is now open and will close on November 30, 2024.

To help cover the cost of the program, we ask that a fee of $50.00 is submitted along with your registration form (please, let our office know if this is a financial hardship for your family).

IMPORTANT DATES:

Parent’s Orientation Meeting

Friday, December 20th at 8:00 pm, OR Saturday, December 21st at 10:30 am, OR Saturday, January 4th, at 6:15 pm at the parish hall at Our Lady of Czestochowa (419 Hill Street). Meeting length: 1 hour

Parent’s Formation Session

At least one of the child’s parents is required to attend Parent’s Formation Sessions, which will take place on selected Mondays: Jan 6, Jan 13, Feb 3, Feb 10, Mar 3, Mar 24, Apr 7 from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm at Our Lady of Czestochowa.

Children’s Formation Sessions

All classes will be done in English, and they take place at Our Lady of Czestochowa church in the Parish Hall. In order to allow an unrestricted number of children per class, we are asking that parents volunteer to be present during the class whenever possible. A sign-up sheet will be provided at the parent’s formation session.

Fridays, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Jan 10, Jan 17, Jan 24, Feb 7, Feb 21, Feb 28, Mar 7, Mar 21, Mar 28, Apr 4

Option 2

Saturdays, 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Jan 11, Jan 18, Jan 25, Feb 8, Feb 22, Mar 1, Mar 8, Mar 22, Mar 29, Apr 5

Option 3

Saturdays, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
Jan 11, Jan 18, Jan 25, Feb 8, Feb 22, Mar 1, Mar 8, Mar 22, Mar 29, Apr 5

First Reconciliation for all children will take place on Apr 26, 2025, at 10 am at Our Lady of Czestochowa church.

Rehearsals for First Holy Communion Celebrations:

St. Patrick’s church: 10:00 am, May 3rd, 2025
Our Lady of Czestochowa church: 10:00 am, May 10, 2025
St. Mary’s church: 10:00 am, May 24, 2025

First Holy Communion Celebrations:

St. Patrick’s church: 12:00 pm Mass, May 4, 2025
Our Lady of Czestochowa church: 12:00 pm Mass, May 11, 2025 (Bilingual)
St. Mary’s church: 12:00 pm Mass, May 25, 2024
